Sales Technical Sales Lead, Ecosystems at OpenZeppelin

Own and grow a portfolio of ecosystem accounts with L1/L2 foundations and protocol teams through full-cycle technical sales, discovery conversations, and strategic partnerships.

Senior Posted about 13 hours ago RemoteFirstJobs Product
What this role involves

About us

OpenZeppelin is the security standard onchain finance is built on. Founded in 2015, our mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to an open financial system, built on open standards and secured by rigorous research.

Our open-source Contract Libraries have facilitated over $35 trillion in onchain value and are used by 10 of the top 10 tokenized money market funds and 9 of the top 10 stablecoins by market cap.

We combine AI-native security tooling with deep research and a decade of audit expertise to support leading institutions and crypto-native teams shaping the next generation of digital assets like DTCC, Fidelity, Coinbase, Uniswap, Aave, the Ethereum Foundation, and many more across the full secure development lifecycle.

Please note: Always refer to OpenZeppelin’s official job page for the most accurate information about our open roles, as we have seen multiple third party job sites posting inaccurate information.

The Ecosystems Team

OpenZeppelin’s libraries and standards are the trusted foundation of onchain development across Ethereum, Stellar, Canton and beyond, powering the majority of the world’s most valuable protocols and a new generation of institutional-grade financial infrastructure. The Ecosystems team builds the long-term partnerships behind that position: we work directly with L1 and L2 foundations, protocol teams and technology providers on security audits, secure development, reference implementations and strategic open-source programs that help entire ecosystems grow securely. As tokenization and institutional adoption accelerate, the team sits at the center of some of the most consequential projects in the industry. You will report to our Ecosystem Development Lead and work alongside senior sellers, our CTO office, and our solutions and delivery teams.

What you’ll be doing

You will own a portfolio of ecosystem accounts and be responsible for growing it. This is a senior, full-cycle sales role for someone who is technical enough to lead discovery and scoping conversations with CTOs and core developers directly. You will deepen relationships with some of the most important foundations and protocol teams in the industry, and open doors to new ones.

  • Own and grow a portfolio of ecosystem accounts (L1/L2 foundations, protocol teams, infrastructure providers) through renewals, expansion into new services, and multi-year partnerships.
  • Win new business through targeted, research-driven outreach to foundations and protocol teams, typically six to seven-figure engagements.
  • Lead the full sales cycle, including technical discovery: scoping security audits, secure development engagements and open-source partnership programs, and translating protocol roadmaps into compelling proposals.
  • Build and maintain strategic account plans for your portfolio, staying close to your customers’ roadmaps and identifying opportunities early.
  • Partner with our CTO office and solutions teams on strategic proposals, and help shape the institutional-grade solutions emerging from our largest partnerships.
  • Represent OpenZeppelin at ecosystem conferences, technical workshops and community events worldwide.

You have

  • 6+ years in sales or commercial roles, including 3+ years owning and exceeding revenue targets for technical products or services (Web3, security, developer tooling, or infrastructure).
  • A track record of closing six and seven figure deals with blockchain foundations, protocol teams, or technology companies.
  • Real technical fluency: you understand smart contract development, EVM architecture and blockchain infrastructure well enough to lead technical conversations, read documentation and EIPs/ERCs, and earn credibility with engineering audiences.
  • Full-cycle ownership: you prospect, qualify, propose, negotiate and close, and you run your pipeline with discipline.
  • An established network across blockchain ecosystems, foundations and protocol teams.
  • Excellent proposal writing and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • A background as a developer, solutions engineer or security researcher before moving into sales.
  • Experience selling security audits or security services.
  • Familiarity with ecosystem funding mechanics: foundation budgets, grant programs, treasury-funded partnerships.
  • Exposure to financial institutions, tokenization or RWA projects.
  • Experience with onchain analytics (Dune, Nansen, block explorers).

Logistics:

Our interview process takes place on Zoom and tends to consist of the following stages:

  • Recruiter Call (30 minutes)
  • Hiring Manager Call (60 minutes)
  • Team Interview (45 minutes)
  • Leadership Interview (30 minutes)
  • Paid work test (up to 20 paid hours of work)
  • Reference checks

Benefits

  • Company in-person gatherings in different locations around the world 😎
  • Fully remote work 🌎
  • Flexible time off 🏝
  • Paid parental leave 💙
  • One time work-from-home equipment stipend of up to $500 USD đŸȘ‘
  • Medical insurance coverage đŸ„
  • Learning & Development opportunities 🧠
  • Work with a global team in a fast-growing industry 🚀

What this role involves

Job Title: Solutions Engineer

About Sezzle:

With a mission to financially empower the next generation, Sezzle is revolutionizing the shopping experience beyond payments, blending cutting-edge tech with seamless, interest-free installment plans that make shopping smarter and more accessible. We’re not just transforming payments; we’re redefining how people discover, interact with, and purchase the things they love while driving real impact on merchant sales through increased conversions and higher order values. As we continue to shape the future of fintech and retail, we’re building an innovative, dynamic team passionate about creating more than just a transaction but a truly unique shopping journey. If you’re excited about pushing boundaries in tech and delivering a game-changing experience for consumers and merchants alike, come join us at Sezzle and help create the future of shopping!

About the Role:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Solutions Engineer who is best in class with a high IQ plus a high EQ. This role presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing team, with abundant prospects for career advancement.

As a Solutions Engineer, you are the technical owner of the merchant relationship from first sales conversation through live integration and beyond. You will focus on our enterprise and strategic merchants: the national retailers and high-volume brands running custom, hand-built integrations across web, mobile app, and in-store. These are our most complex merchants and our largest revenue drivers, and they do not come with an off-the-shelf plugin.

You will partner with Sales, Product, and Engineering to scope what a merchant needs, design the integration that gets them there, and stay with them once they are live. You own the technical side of pre-sales: demos, architecture discussions, RFP responses, and solution proposals. When a merchant needs something custom, you define the requirement, shape the solution with our engineering team, and drive it to launch.

This is a customer-facing engineering role. You will spend as much time on calls with merchant developers as you will in documentation and test environments, and you need to be credible in both rooms.

This role combines technical expertise and sales acumen to support sales teams. They work closely with the sales team and clients, understanding customer needs and translating them into effective, tailored solutions. Acting as a bridge between technical and business functions, a Solutions Engineer not only helps demonstrate and implement the product’s capabilities but also communicates complex technical details in a way that resonates with clients. Their role requires both the ability to engage with customers directly and the technical know-how to ensure the product meets client requirements effectively.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own technical discovery for prospective merchants: understand their stack, their checkout flow, and their constraints, then map them to the right Sezzle integration path
  • Lead product demos and technical presentations for merchant engineering and business stakeholders
  • Design integration solutions across our API, SDKs, and platform plugins (Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento, WooCommerce, Wix, and custom builds)
  • Write technical proposals and complete RFP and security questionnaire responses
  • Support merchant mobile app integrations: SDK implementation, in-app checkout, and native versus webview handoff
  • Validate integrations in sandbox and in production before launch, including checkout flow, widget and messaging placement, redirect and handoff behavior, and settlement
  • Troubleshoot live integration issues alongside Support and Engineering, and own the technical narrative back to the merchant
  • Translate recurring merchant needs into product feedback, and push for the fixes that unblock revenue
  • Build and maintain integration documentation, runbooks, and internal enablement so the team scales without you in every call
  • Act as the trusted technical advisor for your merchants after launch, spotting optimization opportunities they haven’t asked for yet

What We Look For:

  • 4+ years in a customer-facing technical role: solutions engineering, sales engineering, implementation, solutions architecture, or technical account management
  • Experience with mobile SDK integrations on iOS and Android, including the ability to guide merchant mobile developers through implementation and debug what breaks
  • Experience supporting enterprise merchants through complex, multi-stakeholder integrations with custom-built commerce stacks
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and reading API documentation critically
  • Working knowledge of web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Familiarity with at least one major e-commerce platform (Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento, WooCommerce, Wix) and how payment methods integrate into it
  • Understanding of e-commerce workflows: cart, checkout, payment authorization and capture, refunds, shipping, and product management
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences, and business context clearly to engineers
  • Strong written communication. You will produce documentation and proposals that merchants and internal teams rely on
  • Comfort managing several merchant integrations at once in a fast-moving environment
  • Ability to read code in at least one language well enough to debug a merchant’s implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools effectively in day-to-day work, including research, technical documentation, problem-solving, and workflow automation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a payments company, PSP, or BNPL provider
  • Familiarity with payment gateway architecture and how alternative payment methods are surfaced at checkout
  • Experience with in-store or omnichannel payment integrations
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

About You:

  • You have relentlessly high standards - many people may think your standards are unreasonably high. You are continually raising the bar and driving those around you to deliver great results. You make sure that defects do not get sent down the line and that problems are fixed so they stay fixed.
  • You’re not bound by convention - your success—and much of the fun—lies in developing new ways to do things
  • You need action - speed matters in business. Many decisions and actions are reversible and do not need extensive study. We value calculated risk-taking.
  • You earn trust - you listen attentively, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully.
  • You have backbone; disagree, then commit- you can respectfully challenge decisions when you disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. You have conviction and are tenacious. You do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. Once a decision is determined, you commit wholly.
  • You deliver results- you focus on the key inputs and deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion. Despite setbacks, you rise to the occasion and never settle.

What Makes Working at Sezzle Awesome:

At Sezzle, we are more than just brilliant engineers, passionate data enthusiasts, out-of-the-box thinkers, and determined innovators. We believe in surrounding ourselves with only the best and the brightest individuals. Our culture is not defined by a certain set of perks designed to give the illusion of the traditional startup culture, but rather, it is the visible example living in every employee that we hire.
